Internal pressure is maintained to deliver the exact amount of ink that the original OEM cartridge would deliver. The cartridges used on our Continuous Ink Systems are sponge-less, feature a technology patented check valve to maintain constant pressure without the need for priming and  are constructed for prolonged, repeat uses (they are not modified single use disposables).   Bulk Ink Systems are constructed for professional digital printers, photographers, graphic designers and in general anyone that uses 2 or more sets of cartridges a month, they are easy to install, they can be filled with any ink type or brand and will save you a lot of money!
